We believe that Holy Scripture is the inspired and inerrant Word of God and the sole norm for faith and life (2 Timothy 3:16–17). Therefore, all teaching, learning, and life within Unity Ridge Lutheran School are grounded in and governed by the authority of God’s Word. 
 
We believe that learning for the child begins within the family structure. Scripture teaches that parents are entrusted with the primary responsibility of teaching their children the faith: “These words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children” (Deuteronomy 6:6–7; cf. Ephesians 6:4). As the child reaches school age, parents enlist the help of the school to expand and enlarge the mental, physical, and social skills of the child, while also promoting the growth of Christian faith and values (Proverbs 22:6; Psalm 78:4–7). 
 
A Christian school provides the best opportunity for the education of the whole child — spiritually, intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally. Because “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching” (2 Timothy 3:16–17), the school intentionally places children under the influence of God’s Word in all areas of instruction. We confess that all knowledge and life are from God, for “by Him all things were created… and in Him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:16–17). Therefore, education is pursued in a way that glorifies Him in all things (1 Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 3:17). 
 
The proper distinction of Law and Gospel guides all instruction, relationships, and discipline. God’s Law reveals His will and our need for repentance, while the Gospel proclaims forgiveness and new life in Christ (John 1:17; Romans 1:16). In this way, students are formed not only in knowledge, but in faith and Christlike character, walking in the light of God’s Word (Psalm 119:105).
 
Unity Ridge Lutheran School is a Recognized Service Organization (RSO) of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and an association school supported by multiple LCMS congregations. In faithfulness to Christ’s command to “make disciples of all nations… teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19–20), these congregations partner together to assist parents in nurturing children in the Christian faith. As members of the one body of Christ (Ephesians 4:4–6, 11–13), we share responsibility for encouraging spiritual growth, strengthening Christian community, and equipping students to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in church and in the world. 
 
Lutheran education at Unity Ridge Lutheran School is synonymous with Christian education in that all aspects of the teaching-learning process are kept in harmony with and under the authority of the Holy Scriptures, so that students may grow up in every way – in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man – into Christ our Head (Luke 2:52, Ephesians 4:15).
